a quick note of chagrin and gratitude. the global pandemic has a vast reach and certainly has more devastating effects outside of my own personal bubble. my thoughts go to those who struggle to manage their personal challenges with this mess. in our space, there are several music performances that won’t happen. they won’t be realized by the student musicians, shared with the community, enjoyed by their friends and loved ones. my saxophone kids were ready to slay the carnival of venice, piazzolla etudes, jacob tv, florent schmitt, rudresh manthappa heads, and claude t. smith’s fantasia. my jazz kids were tackling jacob mann, omar thomas, miho hazama, darcy james argue, orrin evans, lauren baba, omer avital, and the deep library of cole porter. they’re rolling with the punches and washing their hands afterwards. these students of mine are an inspiration, a joy to teach, and make me a better person.

love & light.
